VE7QBV and the joy of soldering... |
|
Field Day is an awesome fun activity each year. For a weekend, we go out into a remote location in darkest Maple Ridge, and set up radio stations, operate the radios, drink beer, catch up on old times, and operate the radio some more.
We have lots of fun building various forms of antennas
and hanging them from trees or putting them on top of towers.
We try and make as many contacts with other stations
around the world during a 24 hour period. This is both an exercise in emergency preparedness, and also a contest.

We track all the contact information, which later
gets sent into the ARRL. The results come out in December. In the past few years we have come 3rd place in Canada within our category (4A).
In addition to building antennas and making contacts
there is great fun, fellowship and food to die for.
